Biografie
Herbert Jeffrey Hancock ist ein US-amerikanischer Jazzmusiker, Bandleader und Komponist. Er begann seine Karriere in der Gruppe des Trompeters Donald Byrd. Bald darauf schloss er sich dem Miles Davis Quintett an, wo er die Rolle der Jazz-Rhythmusgruppe maßgeblich prägte und zu den Wegbereitern des Post-Bop-Sounds zählte. In den 1970er-Jahren experimentierte er mit Jazz-Fusion, Funk und elektronischen Stilen und nutzte dabei eine Vielzahl von Synthesizern und elektronischen Geräten. In dieser Zeit veröffentlichte er eines seiner bekanntesten und einflussreichsten Alben, „Head Hunters“.
