Biografie

Hedda Hopper war eine amerikanische Schauspielerin und Klatschkolumnistin, die für ihre erbitterte Fehde mit ihrer Erzrivalin Louella Parsons bekannt war. Sie war bereits seit Jahren eine mäßig erfolgreiche Bühnen- und Filmschauspielerin, bevor ihr 1938 die Chance geboten wurde, die Kolumne „Hedda Hopper’s Hollywood“ für die Los Angeles Times zu schreiben. Auf dem Höhepunkt ihrer Popularität in den 1940er-Jahren erreichte sie 35 Millionen Leser. Sie war für ihren politischen Konservatismus bekannt und nannte während der McCarthy-Ära mutmaßliche Kommunisten beim Namen. Hopper schrieb bis zuletzt Klatschkolumnen, die in zahlreichen Zeitschriften und später im Radio erschienen.
